My thoughts: This is like a really epic trailer for Brave 10 (but using only the first episode)! I’d love to see a new AMV made like this now that the anime is complete.

I just finished the anime for Brave 10 (4/2/12). I started reading the manga about halfway through it, and it kind of tamped down my excitement for the anime - it doesn’t help that more of the manga isn’t scanlated. But the anime ending turned out to be fun anyway. I loved hearing their voices (what a great cast of seiyuu!) and seeing certain scenes animated. Too bad they had to leave out things and rush others. There’s a sequel to the manga being published title ‘Brave 10 S’, so there’s plenty of the manga to look forward to! 

The mangaka, Shimotsuki Kairi, has also done a Sengoku Basara manga. Yaoi fans may recognize her art from works such as ‘Madness’. Brave 10 does contain BL hints, but nothing too shocking for animanga these days. There’s equal amounts of het stuff. The manga is more ecchi than the anime. I’m not usually into that in my shounen but the plot, the art and the characters totally override that.

P.S.: I know some fans of the Sengoku Basara franchise are worried about it being too similar to Brave 10, but if you just give it a chance you’ll see that they really are two different things. Some of the characters names are the same, but I never had difficulty telling the characters apart, mainly because the plot was so different. The characters are used differently, it’d just be weird to see them as characters from another series, you know? It’d be like saying Sasuke from Naruto is the same as Sasuke from Sengoku Basara or Sasuke from Brave 10. They’re all distinctly different characters in different stories. :)

Ana and Rokurou are alike in some ways (their name kanji, clothing style, elements and the way they can both be cold), but in some ways they’re really different (loyalty being a big one).

My thoughts: I love the comparison between the moon and Chekov’s religion, and how it was weaved throughout the fic. I’d love to see how Chekov goes about his ‘mission’!

It had become a recent habit to do so, as the doctor (BonesMcCoyLeonardDoctor) usually ended his shift at the same time and was occasionally amenable to a drink and perhaps a game of checkers. My thoughts: Apparently my first rec for this pairing, and possibly the first fic I ever read in the fandom! I really like what the author did with Kris, I feel it’s true to real life. I love how he found what he really wanted for himself, even though it was harsh at times. Also, I loved the cuddling. <3

Excerpt:

Adam calls him a few days later. “I met someone,” Adam says.

Kris is at the beach. It’s crowded, but Paris Hilton is half a mile down the beach from him, so no one is paying him attention. Kris tans and burns unevenly, in weird, unpredictable splotches, but it’s better than nothing.

“You meet people every day,” he says, digging his toes into the sand.

“No, I met someone,” Adam says. His excitement is palpable through the phone; it’s in the distinctive hitch in his voice.

Kris squints down the beach. “I think Paris Hilton might be drowning,” he says, “or maybe she just swims that way for fun.”

Adam huffs impatiently. Kris isn’t really sure why he’s trying to annoy Adam, but he is sure that he doesn’t want to talk about Adam’s new boyfriend. Adam’s had a lot of them over the years, and since Drake none of them have stuck for too long, and today Kris is tired.

“Well I can tell this isn’t going anywhere,” Adam says. “Call me when you feel like being a human.” And he hangs up.

My thoughts: I love this AU! Jess is still alive, and Castiel lives on Earth with his siblings Gabriel and Raziel. I really like how the author wrote Dean, and Castiel is quite interesting. I love the progression of their relationship. The side-characters were fun too! I’d love to read a timestamp fic showing what happened in the end with Dean and Castiel. Something I only realized until after I was finished reading was that Dean’s question about Castiel having a kid wasn’t resolved. It doesn’t impact how I feel about the fic but a brief clearing up of that would have been spiffy. XP

“You didn’t send him a picture of your dick, did you?”

“Is that really what you think of me? I’m savin’ that one for the third date.”

Dean taps his fingers on the table while Sam mumbles about how it’s a bad idea to send naked pictures to people online even though Dean knows he has a folder of naked pics of Jessica floating around on this thing somewhere.

“Not the point, Sammy,” Dean interrupts. “He wants to meet me. In Vegas.”

There’s a beat and then Sam says, “Sounds like he wants to be your sugar daddy.”

My thoughts: The only thing that would have made this better is if it included the scene from episode 8! At first I couldn’t get into the song matched with the video, but by the time it got to the tournament match I was excited! I love a determined Gon. I think the original anime did an amazing job showing Gon’s emotions through his eyes/expressions.
